How to take care of your mental health

Your psychological well-being is very important, -the way you feel about yourself and deal with life stressors. Seeking help also means maintaining good mental health, but it also involves taking measures on your own.

While you are busy on just focusing how you look or how handsome you earn, your mental health might be ruined costing you a fortune in the long run. One moment you might be laughing with your friends and on the other, doubting your self-worth. It happens in the blink of an eye when you don’t keep a check on what’s actually going on in your life than what’s tangible hence ignoring intangible (mind and thoughts).

Mental health is often underrated over physical health. Though both of these factors have a direct influence on each other. But there are many other aspects you need to take care of for a healthy and happy survival.
And for that… today I will be giving you few tips that will turn tables a bit, but in a very healthy manner and you be surely glad that they did!

Below are those tips mentioned:

Compliment yourself with something positive, everyday:

Yes, when someone compliments you with something positive it makes you feel so good and boosts your self-esteem. But here is a thing, what if they stop doing it? Well doesn’t matter if they do or not “Your life should be your voice” that reminds you each and every day that you are enough and more. But yes, media and society have the tendency to tear you down. And the only way to be happiness and tranquility is that you respect and accept yourself the way you are. Focus on the good aspects and embrace them, and work on the ones that are not so good or require improvement. Stand in front of the mirror and say that you are beautiful inside out… say that OUT LOUD!

Follow up with your gratitude journal:

Researchers have proved that people who wrote things they are grateful for everyday experienced a remarkable improvement in their mental health and betterment in self-esteem as well happiness.

Generally, we only focus on went wrong, the goals we didn’t achieve and the way things didn’t happen the way we wanted them too. But what about those blessing that gives you hope amidst the chaos? What about those moments of happiness that make you forget about aching bones? Actually, those moments make your survival possible. So every day, find something to be grateful for, fill your heart and soul with it and embrace that feeling like it’s born for you!


Hushh, I know it already that it’s the least thing you want to do. But the facts I am gonna tell you will make you exercise happily. Your body releases endorphins (mood boosting and stress relieving chemical) after you work out. It also regulates the flow of serotonin (the chemical responsible for long term contentment and happiness) in the brain that is also responsible for kicking of anxiety, stress, and depression. Your workout doesn’t have to be much, 30 minutes daily are perfect. Exercise in the sunlight would be even better as it is good for the body and known to be a natural healer. If in case you are occupied with a busy schedule, just find ways for physical activity… like you can climb stairs instead of jumping on the elevator.

Do something for someone else:

Being self-centered has become trendier. Instead of investing time and energy for the sake of helping others one would certainly focus on him/herself more.

Surprisingly, researchers have proven that helping others has a valuable effect on how you feel about yourself. It builds up your self-esteem and you are a better person in your own view. The meaning that you find in helping others eventually results beneficial for you.

Take some “Me time”:

In the world of hustle and bustle, it seems impossible to sit back and relax. There’s always an extra thing to do, an extra chore, procrastinated assignment, or a movie that you promised your friend. But sometimes you really need a full stop. You really need to sit back and relax. It doesn’t mean that you have to leave everything and vanish. Just sit for a moment and let your mind and body relax. Listen to your body and give it what it needs. It could be a power nap, a nice mug of hot chocolate, or just sitting and doing nothing. Your “me time” is really important because you matter. Sometimes the world can wait.

Talk to someone:

Sometimes all you need a friend or a trustworthy fellow to talk to. We humans cannot survive if we don’t have an emotional ventilation. So once in while just talking to a close friend whom you trust or the person you fancy the most. Just share your thoughts, emotions, and knowledge. Share the burden of the world that you carry all alone. It is not only healthy to have a good social connection but also it’s good to have a second opinion, a friendly suggestion or a shoulder to cry on.

Eat healthily:

Our body needs important nutrients to function properly. Different types of foods are responsible for regulating diverse functions in our body. Certain foods are direct nutrition to brain chemicals that are responsible for numerous functions and moods. Have a balanced diet that contains proteins, carbohydrates, enzymes, minerals and other essential nutrients. Some foods act as a relaxant for our body, hence saving us from negative stress and anxiety that hinder our life.

I hope after reading the above article you will surely bring some positive change in your life and render unhealthy habits.
