Isn’t there something fascinating about dreams?

Ever felt strange happenings while dreaming? Or whatever you dream about just came true? Or maybe whatever you dream about was your childhood wish?

Dreams have fascinated people from the beginning of time. People believe dreams foretell the future; that they have psychological meanings; we commune with spirits and the dead; that there are visitations from ancestors; dreams make prophesies and are filled with omens and auguries. They are steeped in mystery, as if written in some kind of secret code, decipherable to a special few.

Isn’t it enthralling how different meaning dreams can have? Let’s find out some interesting things about dreams!

Macrobius” a Roman, described 5 types of dreams:

  1. Somnium: an enigmatic mysterious dream requiring interpretation; think Freud and psychoanalysis.
  2. Visio: a prophetic vision that predicts a future that comes true; think Jacob’s Dream in the Bible
  3. Oraculum: prophetic dream in which an authority figure plays a role; think of the visions of Joan of Arc in which three saints instruct her to recover France from the English.
  4. Insomnium: a nightmare or false or disturbing dream caused by a pathological condition; think the repetitive nightmares of PTSD
  5. Visum: a nightmare that include apparitions and contact with supernatural beings; think Scrooge’s journeys into the past and future in Dickens’ Christmas Carol.

Dreams:

Dreaming is another form of consciousness and it is defined as, “A hallucinatory experience during sleep consisting of visual images related in a story-like structure, which are accepted as reality at the time.”

The average person spends about 6 years of their life dreaming. Most dreams serve as a review of the day and are related to the day’s activities. Interestingly, our brains register more stimuli during the day than we realize and our brains will then take this unnoticed information and incorporate it into our dreams.

While there is no scientific evidence for dreams having any symbolic meaning there are many theories about dreams and their purposes.

Some of these theories include:

  • “The information processing theory proposers that our dreams help us sort our tan process the day’s events and fix them into our memory”
  • “The Physiological Function Theory suggests that dreaming may promote neural development and preserve neural pathways by providing the brain with stimulation”
  • “Dreams are part of our cognitive development, they draw on our knowledge and understanding of the world, mimicking reality”
  • “REM sleep triggers neural activity, and dreams are an accidental side-effect”

Explication of dream:

How is it that Eddie went to bed that night and was awakened eight hours later by killing a monster in a dream?

The meaning of the dream is as follows: The anxiety that generated the dream derived from the argument with the professor. The way a dream operates is that the surface conflict is like the crust of a piece of pie. The deeper meaning of the dream cuts all the way to the center of the pie, to his core. Eddie re-enacts a form of the already established internal play to digest the surface conflict. The feeling relatedness in Eddie’s dream is one of sadomasochism. The ogre, a monomaniacal bully, hates Eddie. He is stalking Eddie in order to kill him. Eddie is in the masochistic position of this relationship. He is threatened, terrified, humiliated, and impotent. By his actions later in the dream, it is clear that the masochist in this relationship is also filled with hatred and murderous rage. The limbic system clearly creates the feeling relationship between dream characters.

The inner context for the dream, then, was a story that already existed inside Eddie. This story and inner world derived from Eddie’s formative emotional experience with his mother and father. The emotional conflict with the professor resonated with this inner story. The surface of his inner story was the problematic relationship with his father, who was an arrogant, self-involved, and cruel man. Eddie spent his childhood hopelessly seeking his father’s approval but to no avail. When Eddie sought approval from his professor, sure enough, his hopes were dashed once again. He was forced to submit to unresponsive disapproval from male authority.

More profoundly, the inner story of Eddie and his father telescoped to the more disturbing relationship with his mother. Hers was a secret world of physical and emotional sadism and violence. In fact, his father’s humiliations were an extension of the core violations by his mother. Eddie’s experience of his father was already filtered by what had come before. The relationship between Eddie and his mother was one of unadulterated sadomasochism. Mother related to Eddie by her sadistic and violent rage. As the masochistic object of this rage, Eddie was on the receiving end of unrelenting physical and emotional abuse, cruelty, humiliation, and threat. He was helpless, impotent, and intimidated.

Therefore:

This dream is a model as to how dreams operate. For the most part we have to digest emotional conflicts which happen on a daily basis. The issues that may occupy the dream stage are combats, quests, challenges, boredoms, wishes, hopes, curiosities, pain, disappointments, sexual interests and stimulations, fantasies, competitions, fears, anxieties, cruelty, sadism, humiliations, sufferings, abuse, deprivations, traumas, envies, jealousies, sadness’s, and otherwise the full panoply of life’s dramas, engagements, and relationship adventures. The conflicts to be digested aren’t always emotional ones. Sometimes when a person is cognitively trying to solve a problem, and this is the context that is on his plate when he goes to sleep. The dream may through its dream work digest the problem and come up with a solution. On awakening if one remembers the dream he will see the solution. If one doesn’t remember the dream he’ll come to the solution refreshed in the morning.

Do you want to know about some interesting facts about dreams?

  • Not everybody can dream in color: Approximately 12% of people dream only in black-and-white and the rest can dream in full color. That’s a fascinating fact. And, this can be linked to technology and invention of color media/television. So is there something called dream colors meaning? I’m pretty sure, there is.
  • We forget at least 90% of the dreams: Hasn’t it happened to you that as soon as you wake up, you can’t seem to remember what you were dreaming about? This is true that within 5 minutes of us waking up from a dream, half the dream is already forgotten. And within 10 minutes, 90% of the dream is lost. This is why we have such a hard time remembering dreams.
  • Emotions experienced in our dreams are real: People tend to experience anxiety the most in their dreams. Such negative emotions appear more in our dreams than positive ones.
  • Blind people can dream too: People who’ve lost their eye-sight after birth can see some images while asleep. Now those who are blind since birth don’t see any images, however, they experience vivid dreams that involve their sense of smell, touch, emotions and sound. All physical situations help make dreams, which in short provides blind people ability to dream.
  • Animals dream as well, it’s not just a human thing: Do dogs dream? Or how about cats? Any other animals? Studies have actually proven that many different animals show similar brain waves during “dream sleep” as we do. If you have a dog or cat, watch when he/she is sleeping. Any kind of paw movements that indicate that they are running (while making a yapping sound) will mean that they are chasing someone/something.
  • External stimuli tend to invade our dreams: Also called “dream incorporation”, our mind starts to interpret the external stimuli that storm our senses while we sleep and they become a part of our dreams. For example, we hear a sound in reality and then incorporate it in our dreams in some way or another.
  • We can only dream of what we know:There may be strange faces and/or places in our dreams, but your mind is not making any of this up. You may not remember the places and faces during your life, but your mind does. And hence, when you feel you don’t know someone, in fact, you have seen him/her sometime in your life.

Looking forward to what will you dream next? 😉

New Gadgets you can own to play your part in making this world eco-friendly

Since the day we moved towards progressive industrialization, we became friends with big dollars and an enemy to our beloved planet. Though we have enhanced our way of lives with countless products to save time and provide us with ease but this fact fails to hide the reality that our earth is being damaged with every second of industrial activity and every minute of use of carbon emitting products. Today the carbon footprint is way too huge to end it all together. It can only be done little by little and with every person’s co-operation. We are hyper-consumers of limitless products, we can at least play our part and buy those products which will not only cater to our needs but will also be eco- friendly. Following are some gadgets which we can incorporate in your lives and caress mother earth:

A way to development with joint venture (Changan, China and Master Motors, Pakistan)

A ceremony took place at a local hotel of Karachi for joint venture between Changan and Master Motors. Vice president of Changan, Mr. Wang Huanran and Chairman of Master Motors, Mr. Nadeem Malik signed a resource pool agreement with an aim to grow the business faster and increase productivity. They look forward to generate huge profits from not only Pakistan but from other countries too.

Changan is a Chinese company whereas Master Motors is a Pakistani company which is combining their resources. Generally, entering foreign market with joint venture helps both the parties involved in it. Some benefits are that they get access to new market, risk is shared between the partners and there is access to greater resources etc.

Mr. Wang Huanran told in the event that Pakistan’s auto policy is vibrant to attract foreign investments and so they are willing to install manufacturing plant in Karachi, Pakistan. They want to manufacture RHD (Right Hand Drive) vehicles in Pakistan for local and export market. For this purpose they are planning to relocate their entire Changan RHD vehicle industry in Pakistan, within one year.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative is already under-construction from 2013 in Asia. China is investing billions of dollars on this project as this will link old Silk Road with Europe. This will encourage foreign- exchange reserves and China can create new markets for their excess capacity in steel, cement and other metals.  According to one of Changan’s officials, they will take advantage of that BRI (China’s Belt and Road Initiative) and implement their strategies.

“This joint venture will create almost 10,000 direct and indirect jobs in the country”, Daniel told. According to Trading Economics, Pakistan’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.90 in 2016, so it would be a great opportunity for the job seekers.

Both the companies have aim to make Pakistan a leading automobile company by the end of 2025. For this purpose, Nadeem Malik told that both the companies have planned to jointly invest $100 million in Pakistan with 70% share of Master Motors of Pakistan and 30% share of Changan of China. Changan is given right of refusal if Master Motors wishes to sell its shares in future. Moreover, this joint venture has an objective to get listed on stock market within 3 years.

There is the monopoly of three Japanese manufacturing companies in auto sector in Pakistan. With this project, this monopoly is expected to break with Changan’s production of 30,000 units. They have planned to produce these units in double shift and to reach to maximum production within three years. This joint venture has started to select dealers to be part of their team. The team will help them to provide services to their customers and make effective distribution system of spare parts in all major cities of Pakistan.

Currently, Changan is the largest selling brand of China from 10 years in a row and has annual volume of 2,870,000 units. They deal in Light commercial, Multipurpose, Special Utility and Passenger cars. They have launched all products after market research and with safety factor installed in it. Due to this, Changan is ranked no. 1 for continuously 10 years in China, USA, Italy, UK and Japan. Previously they have joint ventures with Suzuki, PSA, Nissan, Ford, Mazda, Scheffler and Bosch. Apart from this, Changan has partnership with Tencent (Internet Service Company) too.

Master Motors has been working from last two decades in automobile industry. Their product line exists of buses and trucks and till now they have successfully sold 17,000 units in Pakistan.

“Pakistan has huge potential in terms of motorization index since it ranked 160 in the world with only 18 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants,” Malik said and further added  “Together with Changan we can tap the market potential while leading on technology front and offering the latest technologies at affordable price to deliver unprecedented value to the customers.”

We hope this joint venture between Changan and Master Motor achieves their goals and this joint venture act as an important role for both the countries. It seems it would benefit the economy of the countries but will this strategy be implemented as it is formulated?

Step by step easy guide for learning 3D printing

In the modern era of technology, there is nothing that is impossible. Every day some new technology emerges leaving us in awe.
So let’s talk about something new today, shall we? What we have in our pipeline is “3D Printer”. But what is 3d printer?

A 3D printer is a manufacturing device that creates 3D artifacts to life. Just as printer uses ink to create an image on a plain paper, in the same manner 3D printer lays down material layer to layer to create a three-dimensional object.

This unique printer consists of a huge range of application, allowing you to make whatever you can imagine of! Many manufacturing organizations use 3D printer to make parts for assembling that they weren’t able to make before. You will find 3D printers in different shapes, sizes and designs, but actually they are all controlled through computer based manufacturing.

What possible advantages you may find of 3D printers?

  • Rapid prototyping
  • Intricate geometries
  • Helps to build customized contents

Now that you know enough that what a 3D printer is, let’s learn how to operate one. For your ease, below I have given you step by step guidance that will help you understand operation of 3D printer accordingly.

Step 1- know which one you want to buy:

Firstly, you will need to understand the various types of 3D printers available in market. Materials and methods with which parts are created varies widely, but basically all 3D printers constructs parts by adding layer to layer material, combining each other to make a final object.

Below I have given 2 types of printers depending upon their functionality, your job is to determine which will be most suitable to you.

Fused filament fabrication (FFF):

It is also known as fused deposition modeling. This type of printer builds in successive layers of plastic filament. They usually work slowly. One important fact about is that it can weak points and a jagged texture. But cheap printing materials can cost less than $1,000.

Stereo lithography (SLA):

On the other hand, this machine offers great accuracy as well as flexibility. They shine ultraviolet lasers into a vat of light-activated resin, hardening it into shape layer by layer. If you want intricate designs, SLA achieves a resolution or thickness of 0.05mm, which allows smoother designs. But better the quality, higher would be the price. Whereas, for this it can cost up to $3,000 and up.

Step 2- select a design:

If you don’t know how to work with CAD software, here’s where you will learn how to work with one.

If you have no clue where to start from:

Well honestly, the easiest option is to use someone else’s work. Thingiverse, Yeggi, STL Finder, and GrabCAD are among those sites that provide millions of free digital designs for a variety of objects including ice scrapers, side tables, and even working watches. However, many files allow you to customize a specific design, measurement, weight and resolution.

You can customize it with assistance:

If in case you cannot find existing design file according to your requirement, and additionally you don’t know CAD. Then it’s time that you might need to hire a designer to help you. Costs would be flexible depending upon the complexity of the task and time consumed.
Tip: you can find freelance 3D designers at your local MakerSpace or on sites like Shapeways, PeoplePerHour, or Cad Crowd that list rates, specialties, and services.

You can even try it yourself:

Here’s a good for you, numerous 3D-printing apps lets you to build products of your own without having to know CAD. Apps normally have a narrow focus, such as building smartphone cases or transforming kids’ doodles into 3D figurines, and are fast and easy to use. When you’re done, simply download the design file generated by the app, upload it to the printer, and get printing.

Step 3- choose your preferred material:

Printers can handle variety of materials, it depends upon you which you want to go with.

If you want a strong material:

If you’re using an FFF printer, you’ll want plastic, either ABS or nylon. Both are tough and flexible enough for functional parts like gears and integral hinges. But you can also consider steel or titanium if you are ordering prints from a 3rd party service.

In the other case if you want a material that can withstand heat:

Ceramics would work best as it can handle temperatures of 2,500 Fahrenheit. Using SLS machines, preceramic polymers are printed into a design and then traditionally fired, converting the material into a ceramic.

Object for capturing detail:

If you want flawlessness, resin’s smooth surface and ability to show details, especially when treated with high-powered SLA lasers, make it perfect for prototypes and models.

Object like a real thing:

Plastic filament embedded with wood shavings or chalk produces a final product that resembles wood or concrete-like stone. Sand down the layers’ edges and no one will know a thing. Though 3D printing has not yet replaced carpentry or masonry, but sooner it will.

By concluding, a handy tip: Learning 3D-modeling design can get you messy. For a simple introduction to CAD software, check out Tinkercad, a free site that teaches fundamentals such as placing, adjusting, and combining objects.

Net Neutrality- A hot debate

You would have been hearing about it all over the internet. A word from here and a word from there. But this noise can be even more confusing because of the fight between 3 parties (The government, the telecommunication companies, and the Public nation).

I will surely enlighten you about the pros and cons of it, but first, let’s have a look that what actually net neutrality is
“Net neutrality (a term that was coined by “Tim Wu”, a professor of Columbia University media law, in 2003) is the principle that governments should mandate Internet service providers to treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content”

Other keywords that you may find on the internet: open internet, end-to-end principle, dumb pipe, traffic shaping, over-provisioning, and device neutrality.

Many countries are in its favor while the others against it. Being a layperson yourself you would be wondering what makes this debate so intense. Well, there are many aspects that are highly favorable for 1-2 parties while a death well for the others.

So let’s talk “neutral” and I will let you decide what the best is. And for that below are certain pros and cons of internet neutrality that will make your vision more apparent.

Pros:

It creates an equal scheme for everyone:

This statement is already self-explanatory. It allows customers freehand accessibility to the data they want to use. Regardless of the illegal sites, the ISP under net neutrality cannot change services, block access or alter the flow of data simply because there is something that goes on which they don’t like.

It protects innovation:

The well-known wealthy people in the world who have earned billions of dollars because of their access to the internet, they were able to get started on the same footing. If internet remains neutral the innovation will be protected. It will allow everyone to earn an easy living either through freelancing or whatever mean they want. It’s a winning strategy for many people right here.

Giving people with a freedom of manifestation:

Any website that can operate legally, may that be blogs, services, and businesses due to internet neutrality. Yes, your foremost concern would be censorship for illegal sites? Well, that won’t be available as long as those sites meet the legal criteria of the law. And as soon as any illegal content is discovered it can be directly reported to the enforcement officials.

There will be an eye for illegal content:

You might find illegal content easily if you are looking for it or even if you are not. The aim of net neutrality is to provide every person with a fine experience. That means illegal content, and sharing will still be prevented. As each ISP would be treated as a regulated common carrier.

It would categorize internet service providers as a utility provider:

Public utilities play a huge role in our life, they provide us with services that improve the worth of our living. In the modern times, the internet is as important as food and water. Utilities provide everyone with the services they need unless a customer refuses to pay for them. It doesn’t matter how good their credit happens to be, how much money they have, or what kind of business they run.

Cons:

A huge amount of data will be consumed without compensation or any advantage:

When the internet was 1st introduced to the public, it was unimaginable for them to have streaming service. Back in 1990’s, internet users had a good time being online in AOL chat rooms or waiting 20 minutes for a cool website to load. But now? There are real-time video calling and legal streaming 24/7. Though there is illegal streaming as well. And these services are provided for free on the internet service provider.

Less income from internet uses limits organizational improvements:

There are certain businesses and high-use individuals who consume large amounts of brand-width every month. If internet neutrality is removed, users will be bound to pay for what they consume. And this compensation can be used by the organizations to better the services to each provider. Many communities can also install fiber networks that way.

An unregulated network is a majorly uncensored network:

Under the guise of “freedom of speech” anything can be posted on the internet nowadays. Not only making pornography easily accessible to underage children. But also threatening religious, political, and national beliefs of people. Giving inappropriate influence and exposure to children. But an argument can be made that content should be filtered before it reaches the users.

Free internet access would eventually go away:

When profit is the major concern of any business/organization, the idea of providing free services (internet) to the ones who cannot afford it will gradually vanish into thin air today or tomorrow. Providers have the freedom to charge whatever they want and provide whatever they desire. This will cause discrimination socio-economically and demographically as well unfair treatment by providing privileges to the wealthiest.

Many public utility problems are just overlooked:

Compensation prices are raised when utilities face slow consumer base. That actually means that every body pays more for the same service without any innovation.

Conclusion:

Pros and cons keeping aside. There are many debatable aspects of net neutrality which are looked over from one onto another. Especially when talking about cost and access. If a decent debate is made taking all the concerned aspects into consideration then we can reach on a better solution.

For you to be on the safe side, it’s better to use VPN (virtual private network). VPN tunnels your data through a server overseas, essentially hiding your data from your ISP. It will you the freedom to use freely what you want to, and expose your kids to suitable content. Hence providing a safer environment.

Using Animal in Medical Research Help People

“The use of animals in medical research remains absolutely essential,” John Savill.

There are numerous medical diseases which humans share with the animals. Animals have proven to be a successful model for the study of human illnesses. It has been made crucial by the Medical Research Council (MRC), to use animals in biomedical research for better understanding of the human body and its pathology.

SOME COMMON DISEASES IN MEN AND ANIMALS:

CATS

Lets begin with the most common and beloved animal in our world. Cats do share some of the common human diseases which include, visual impairments. Hence we can test on cats for research of that disease and its remedies.

DOGS

We have noticed a variety of diseases in dogs, which are commonly found in every other house as pets. These diseases are, diabetes, cancer, ulcer, cataracts and bleeding disorders like haemophilia, which make them perfect fort the research of these diseases.

CATTLE

HPV vaccines and cervical cancer has been studied in animals and prevented in humans. It has been a successful outcome.

FISH

Zebrafish helps advance cancer research. As many types of tumours can be studied from zebrafish, scientists used to isolate particular mutation or cancer causing oncogenes, to prepare the cure. The first of these models were acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

RABBITS

A birth defect known as spina bifida can be studied through rabbits. Moreover, they also suffer from emphysema and atherosclerosis which is, hardening of the arteries.

NEW MEDICINE

Animal models help humans to explore ways of trying different remedies that can not be carried out in a human model. Study of animal model gives us rapid outcomes to make new medicines which benefit both the animals and the humans. Induced models are the animals which are altered to create models of disease.

It has been noted that defects and symptoms in the spinal cord of a rat during surgery are similar to the symptoms of spinal cord injury in men. This would help us to find out what cure can be beneficial in such a damage by trying it on the rat prior to the humans.

TEST TREATMENT

As Sabin said in 1995, that here could have been no oral polio vaccine without the use of innumerable animals, in the same way today, animals are used to try out new medicines.

Being a part of applied research process, animal models are studied upon after the researchers find ay remedy for a disease. For instance, by using induced parkinson’s animal models we have tried out different remedies for that diseases and found the right one. Such experiments are crucial to ensure the safety and effectiveness of a medicine for all species. Another thing that is very imperative is the data of the research. With that research data, new applicable drugs can be made and tested out.

COMBATTING HUMAN ILLNESSES

Some common surgical procedures that have been tested in animals are:

  • Treatments for shock trauma
  • Surgical procedures
  • Pacemakers
  • Insulin
  • Nutrition supplements
  • Pain relievers
  • Psychoactive drugs
  • Organ transplant
  • Blood diseases

All of these have been researched thoroughly in the animal models. In order to combat human illnesses, animal research are crucial. A lot had been done and improved in the human health for the past 100 years and our work doesn’t stop here.

Are We Really Becomming Too Much Dependent On Computers???

“Dependence can be lethal”

So here’s a point to ponder, can you imagine to spend one day of your life without a computer?
Well, the answer would definitely be No! We have become so much handicapped of technology and computer that we can’t imagine doing any simple task without it. Yes, you will surely want to argue by talking about its benefits and the way it has eased our life. But far more than that, many medical illnesses have taken birth from it.

You analyze that by observing the behavior of people around you the moment net goes off. Everybody freaks out like it’s the end of the world!

Dr. Peter Whybrow, director of neuroscience at UCLA, calls screens “electronic cocaine” and in China researchers tag them “digital heroin.”

You would be wondering how addiction?

Dopamine, a neurochemical is produced when we see something fascinating or new. But that’s not it, it has the second function as well; it is the chemical involved in most addictions a well- it is the reward chemical.

“Neuroscientists are concerned that dopamine is produced more than needed every single day, such as when kids are playing games. That may change the “reward circuitry” and make kids more dependent to screen.

Sigman says “Games in a virtual world lead to a false competence. Whereas children need to base their life on reality and not the fake virtual world”

To have a better look at the other issues, below I have mentioned few points that will change your perspective, or at least add knowledge to it.

The main cause of obesity in children as well as adults:

As you already know, obesity is the root cause of many deadly illnesses. And the cause of obesity is spending long hours on the computer, sitting and playing video games or using other social media apps. Alost 15 years from now, 90% kids used to play outside and get oxygen; that used to create healthy interaction with fellow beings, kept them healthy, obesity was not that common because physical activities used to burn the extra fat in the body. But now? 75% of our kids are staying indoors and playing video games. And that is why obesity is the growing concern of our nation.

Lack of social interaction:

“Social life” has been replaced by “social apps”. Rather than talking to our family and spending time with them, we are busy being connected with friends and strangers on social apps. Facebook, snapchat, twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp… name it and you have it on either computer, tablet, laptop or smart phone. We don’t care if our family needs some warm time together, we just care who liked or commented on our photo. We are surely disconnected with your family, but connected to those who probably won’t show when we need them the most.

This not only hinders our present life but also causes problematic issues when the time comes to be in a proper “relationship”. That can be parenthood or marriage. And why do those problems occur? Because we don’t know how to connect in real life.

Intellectual level decreases, technology level increases:

Technology and the use of computer and similar gadgets have surely changed our life style in a positive manner, and help solve problems which took long enough back in time. But do you keep an eye on how your kids take disadvantage of it? Home assignments are no more self-prepared by using own intellectual and reasoning abilities. It is copy pasted from the internet and submitted. And that makes a human being who is capable of doing wonders, a technology fueled robot. Our children are a product of technology.

Isn’t it? Roughly 25% out 100 use their own reasoning to solve logical issues.

Too much screen time results in numerous normal life disturbances:

The reason behind people being overly dependent on computer for the sake of learning is (a) 35% of parents said to keep children occupied and busy while parents work, and (b) 23% parents said to make their kids “tech-savvy” but instead it has caused many problems like poor sleep that results in lethargy and bad immune system, aggression and other behavioral issues, low frustration tolerance, learning difficulties, poor short term memory, depressed, excessive tantrums and mood swings. There are major problems in school and peer group. According to AAP the children who spent more than 2 hours per day on screen had the above issues.

Study in adults:

A research was done by BMC psychiatry to see the effects of long term usage and dependency on phones, the study concluded that “Time spent on general computer use was prospectively associated with sleep disturbances and reduced performance for the men. For the women, using the computer without breaks was a risk factor for several mental health outcomes. Some associations were enhanced in interaction with mobile phone use. Using the computer at night and consequently losing sleep was associated with most mental health outcomes for both men and women”

We are storing instead of learning:

Due to this computer world, we people just a single step away from the information we need. If you want to know the meaning of any particular word you googled it. If you want to delete a blank page of word sheet you watch YouTube video for it. If you’re looking for motivation you watch success story of someone with just 3 minutes of video. Doing this on regular basis will only add up the information you are looking for into your knowledge base and this process is so called “storing and not learning”

Too much reliance on the computer has hindered our life in some manners that require being taken serious measures over, if not, in the near future you will not be interacting a human being. But instead with a technology fueled robot in the shape of a human.
It all comes down to you, what you want to become?

Robots inside Your Body

EVER IMAGINED A ROBOT INSIDE YOUR BODY?

According to the latest news, robots have been in the making to serve science and medicine. Professor David Zarrouk, with his team of mechanical engineering from Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheva, Israel, are building a robot that crawls down your body.

This robot will have a motor to power its worm like wiggling. The data is collected on the robot’s precise position in the body through small electronic sensors. This robot can crawl through the stomach and intestines without harming them because it has been also provided with a smooth artificial skin like texture for this purpose.

This robot is named SAW, it is also known as Warm-bot. SAW, is an abbreviation for single-actuator wave robot. Professor Zarrouk had been working on this innovation since the year 2015 and he finally got it done. He has always been interested in making small unusual robotics. He also mentioned in his introduction about the robot that even if SAW breaks down in your body the digestive system will excrete it out without any damage done.

Currently, SAW is being tested in the intestines of pigs by Zarrouk. A local cooperative farm donated the intestines. The engineers are now working to manipulate the size of the robot, the smaller the better, they believe. But strong enough to do it’s job. Zarrouk hopes to get the device ready this year to be tried on humans.

Previously we had cameras only, which would go down in our body and get pictures for the doctors but that wasn’t enough. Now the doctors and mechanical researchers are gathering up to produce such robots which will deliver medicines in our body on their command or even take a piece of our tissue for Biopsy. Such electronic devices will make medical procedures safer and efficient. They will also render new ideas and enhance the medical field overall.

THE NEW ORIGAMI-STYLE ROBOT

Researchers from Boston, Mass has presented us with another interesting innovation, a robot that will unfold on the site, like an umbrella. Their intention was to create a mini device that would slide down the gut with least resistance.

Daniela Rus, an electrical engineering and computer science professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, speaks that it is an Origami-style robot. Moreover, she said that this robot can be manipulated into the size of a tablet.

The robot is ingested in a cold, ice-like state, and once it is down your gut it starts to melt. After melting it is activated and unfolded. Then it initiates it’s movement. The engineers in Rus’s lab, tried moving this robot with a magnetic force outside the body. They are currently working on it. The robot moves wherever the doctor instructs it to. For now it is just a prototype, but they have their hopes high for it. According to Rus, this robot can help us to take Biopsy and also to remove sores, called ulcers from bleeding. It will also of course deliver medicine to any part of the body easily. This robot will also be beneficial for kids and toddlers to remove small pins or objects that our kids often swallow while playing. Rus further says that she’s excited to use these mini-surgeons.
